Putnam County Sheriff's Department

An accident at US 231 and CR 850N had traffic halted on 231 for more than four hours Wednesday.

Mark Lang of Crawfordsville was traveling north on 231 at 1:35 p.m., when he approached a vehicle traveling north near CR 850N. The second vehicle, driven by Brian Market of Hillsdale, was pulled over on the right side of 231 attempting to make a turn left turn onto the county road.

When Lang attempted to pass, both vehicles collided causing Lang's semi to overturn and the vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the northwest corner of the intersection.

Lang stated it appeared Market was making a u-turn at the time of the accident, while Market said he was making a left turn.

Market complained of neck and shoulder pain, but refused treatment at the scene. Curtis Wrecker Service towed Lang's 2007 Kenworth semi from the scene. Kenny's Wrecker Service towed Market's pick-up truck from the scene.

here was an estimated $$25,000 to $50,000 in damages including the road and a private fence.

James Pickett of Cloverdale was backing into a parking space when his vehicle struck the right-front fender of a parked vehicle. The accident occurred at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday. There was an estimated $750 to $1,000 in damages.

Kelly Litton of Brownsburg was traveling north on US 231 when a deer entered the roadway. She was unable to avoid colliding with the animal. The accident occurred at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Betty Walker of Roachdale was traveling west on SR 236 at 10:04 p.m. Monday when a deer entered the roadway. She was unable to avoid colliding with the animal. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Austin Mullen of Fillmore was traveling on CR 225E at 12:06 a.m. May 9, when he failed to see a corner due to fog. His vehicle slid down an embankment and struck a tree. It was towed from the scene with a hold due to expired registration and failure to carry insurance on the vehicle.

There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Putnam County Jail

One individual was booked into the Putnam County Jail Thursday.

At 10:07 a.m., Robert Daugherty, 62, Terre Haute, was booked for probation violation.

Greencastle Fire Department

The Greencastle Fire Department was called out for two runs recently.

Crews were dispatched to 105 W. Hannah St., at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, but were disregarded before leaving the station. They were back in service at 6:31 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident on Indianapolis Road at 9:44 a.m. Thursday.

They were back in service at 9:48 a.m.
