Joan Nowling

Joan Nowling, 79, of Rockville died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

She was born Sept. 13, 1929 in Mecca, the daughter of Victor and Alva LePrees Guoli. She was a 1947 graduate of Mecca High School. She married Joe Nowling on Aug. 21, 1948 in Mecca.

Mrs. Nowling had worked for many years at Lee's Grocery in Rockville and the Sears catalog store in Rockville. She was a member of the Marshall Federated Church in Marshall and Eastern Star Bridgeton chapter #324.

Survivors include her husband and daughter Linda Nowling of Greencastle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather John Haughee, sister Barbara Neary and stepbrother Harold Haughee.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home in Rockville with the Rev. Don Perry officiating. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville.

Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
