Search warrant yields meth lab

Monday, June 29, 2009

Officers from the Greencastle Police Department were dispatched to serve a search warrant for possible stolen items at a home at 609 Primrose Lane Monday afternoon, which led to the discovery of a working methamphetamine lab, GPD Chief Tom Sutherlin said. Cyle Duncan, 24, was transported to the Putnam County Jail and booked on a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine, a jail representative said. An investigation is still underway, and more details should be available later this evening, Sutherlin said.

  • hmmm do tell what the warrant was for.. Drugs??? if not no case go tom!!

  • Yes the warrant was for the stolen property, I know that for a fact and they found the drugs so therefore yes they have a case because it's probable cause, don't you people have anything better to talk about? Get your facts straight before you go running your mouth! How are they ignoring the drug setup if they booked him in for the drugs?! The house isn't even in his name and he just started staying there so how do you know it was his? If you want to make comments about being within 1,000 feet of a church then shouldn't everyone that gets busted for anything in this town get a stiffer penalty because you're within 1,000 feet of a church almost ANYWHERE in this town.

  • There are two churches nearby...and one happens to be an private elementary school. So, I do hope this guy gets a stiffer penalty for operating such an operation in such close proximity to a school.

Who cares what the warrant was for...This meth lab technician was breaking the law BIG TIME.

I'm glad they busted this scum...We don't need people like that in our town.

Good Job Tom Sutherlin and crew!

  • Yes, The search warrant was for stolen property. What should of happened, and most likely did happen.. they executed another search warrant for the meth lab.

  • If they're on Interstate 40, they are indeed lost!

  • Makes no difference what the search warrant was for. If in the process for looking for the stolen property (as the article states), they find the drugs and drug making equipment in the same area they would have found the stolen property, then the drugs are fair game and the arrests and evidence seized is good to go. I guess it sucks to be the guy that got caught. Hope they give him the maximum sentence.

  • What happened to the people that own that house? The guy has been in and out of jail for various reasons for years now, hasn't he? If the meth lab was found IN the house then shouldn't the owners be prosecuted too?

Aren't there quite a few children living there? The police have been at that address on numerous occasions. Are the children FINALLY going to quit being pushed aside and put in a safer environment?

Finally, the police had a search warrent for stolen property, yes, BUT anything in plain sight is fair game! If they had found a dead body in the living room, should they have ignored that also since the warrent was for stolen property only?

  • I see it this way-one less meth lab operating-GOOD JOB!

  • UMad...you said "this doesn't surprise me being who it is," do you know Cyle Duncan? My guess is probably not! And civil conversation or not I know the facts about this situation. For Benedick...all I have to say is THANK YOU! you would think church goers should be disinclined to use meth, their the ones who should be praying for people that use meth, any other drugs or sin in any kind of way, right? Not judge them.

  • The people that own the house and had all the kids don't even live in this state anymore, so why all the talk about kids living there and not being safe?

-- Posted by nefarious on Tue, Jun 30, 2009, at 10:56 AM
  • heres my point of view obviously if people are going to talk about him like this they dont know him Cyle was like my brother he had my back no matter what, he was a good dude that got into bad stuff so if u dont know him just keep ur opinions to urself THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

  • you people dont know jack! it was a search for stolen property but in the process of searching they found drugs! no one in this town or any other has no room to talk! there might be some in your hood or next door! maybe in your own house! people make mistakes and no need to judge what you dont know!! if your going to talk bad about someone else look in the mirror! we all make mistakes! no matter if there this bad or not! keep your nose out of others!!! my god bless you!

-- Posted by nefarious on Tue, Jun 30, 2009, at 2:13 PM
  • To bodyguard69....isn't that pretty much what I said....that the people that are bad mouthing him probably don't know him, I know I do very well actually have for awhile now and know he's a good guy and helps people when he can, just got wrapped up in something he couldn't get a hold of,.

-- Posted by nefarious on Tue, Jun 30, 2009, at 2:23 PM
  • UMad, if you don't use meth you don't have to worry about your supply running out, therefore I didn't have anything to worry about! And maybe you did go to school with him but I've seen him help yea his self, friends and family so once again quit running your mouth about things you don't know about or things you wouldn't say to somebody's face!

  • There are either kids living in that house, or are always there. Hopefully they are now safe and well taken care of.

    -- Posted by pinklady97 on Tue, Jun 30, 2009, at 6:06 PM
  • Stolen property is usually hand in hand with meth. Lots of people who use meth end up losing jobs, therefore turn to stealing and trade their goods for more meth. The police are fully aware of obtaining another warrant when needed.

Anyone who gets arrested and their story printed in this paper, is, and always will be subject to bloggers disgust and snide remarks online.

If you have a friend or relative who is into foul play, warn them about getting in trouble in Putnam County. They may get a slap on the wrist in court, but the anonymous bloggers of the BG will go for blood. And yes, neFurious, we all have room to talk, or type, or write. It is highly illegal to produce meth but perfectly legal to talk about those who do. If Cyle is a friend of yours, you are too late to defend him, that energy could have been used to help him.

  • Xgamer is once again correct.

Folks are getting harsher punishment from BG blogging then they do from the court system. Times are ruff these days but most people will continue to be a honest citizen just so their name doesn't end up in the newspaper and raked over the coals by the bloggers. Not only does the "alleged criminal" get a good lashing sometimes so does their family.

If my name ever ends up in the paper for a crime I know comments will be made because everyone is entitled to their opinions, children's names do need to be kept out of it though, they are innocent victims.

  • i dont know this duncan and dont care to. but i know he and other notorious individuals broke in my shop and stole almost all of our tools and property. the property was in his garage during the raid and was not identified even though the police had a list of items, and warrant. how do i know? because i was tipped off the next day and did recover some of the missing property from the scene. however due to the fact they did not lock down the scene his partners in crime came back over and loaded at least two vehicles with our stolen property. while my x let my six and three year old run through the house and yard, because my x is a meth head, and put in motion the plan to have mr. duncan break in our shop. while this was earlier pointed out to judge matt headley, by her failing a ct. appointed drug test for meth. and allowed her to retain custody of my two little ones. they could have been poisoned or killed, that night or any other night while with her and her x convict boyfriend who went to prison over what? meth dealing. question, matt headley do you know where your kids were monday night? i know where mine were there at the meth house with there unfit mother loading my stolen property to again trade for methamphetamine. also want to thank c.p.s. they have had my x under investigation for over a year due to drugs, saying shes fine and the kids are fine. are they? i don't think so. this is an outrage what happened to fair and just? does anyone care about the kids in these situations? i beg for help from anyone who will listen, childrens lives are at stake. as far as cyle duncan and associates they are common criminals and thieves, meth is a disease. will we stand by and let our community be over run? mothers on meth to put there children in harms way? is this acceptable?

in our small quiet town, we know it should'nt be.

when does law enforcement, the judge, our c.p.s step in to correct this horrible situation? before or after my children get hurt or worse.

    sincerely begging for help.

  • as someone who has watched first hand the effect this problem has had on my family, I am asking that anyone who knows anything about any of this call the Putnam County Sheriff office and tell them what you know. If you have seen children at that house and can identifiy the people, cars or anything, let the detectives on this case know so they can do their job. Putnam county and Greencastle is a wonderful place to live and all of our children deserve the right to live in a drug and criminal free home that they can be safe to fall asleep in at night and a yard to play in that is safe and not worry that someone on drugs is not caring for them properly. I do think our law enforcement is doing as good of a job as they can do with the information they have. So, please, anyone who can help with information about this case, please get involved because the next child at a home like this might be your child or grandchild.

  • I am glad that Cyle Duncan was arrested - if he was such a nice guy then aside from the stolen property at his home the police wouldn't have found a meth lab as well. Regardless of the churches nearby, meth is a cancer and I hope they throw the book at him!

I am glad the police are ridding the streets of riffraff and they still have their work cut out for them to banish all the parasites that are infecting our community!

  • WHO CARES HOW THEY FOUND IT....THEY FOUND IT. LOCK 'EM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY.

  • He is a good dude, wonderful guy, ect? Just got caught up in bad things? Soooo, couldn't that be said of most ALL criminals? Heck, those child molesters used to open doors for little ol ladies and donate blood, whatever,so lets not judge them for molesting, raping, robbing banks, stealing from special needs children, ect.Hey,we knew them, they are good dudes.. Is society so doped up and brain challenged to excuse behavior away like some do? Take another hit from that bong,dude....

-- Posted by honestyisbestpolicy on Sat, Jul 4, 2009, at 12:54 PM
  • I have to disagree--yes people do get caught up in some bad things, but let's not excuse them for it because they may be nice otherwise. Criminal behavior is criminal regardless of their demeanor or personality.

By the way, speaking of brain-challenged, etc. is the proper way to spell that word if you're going to use it. Whose hitting the bong?

  • i love him he is the greatest guy in the world but it's not unusual for people to judge him without even knowing him. like i will say over and over again i love him and always will.
