Weather postpones 4th of July festivities

Saturday, July 4, 2009

With today's showers forecast to last throughout the evening, the city of Greencastle has postponed much of its Independence Day festivities until Sunday, city officials said.

The fireworks display has been postponed until Sunday at dusk.

Additionally, many of the day's other festivities will commence or resume on Sunday. The softball tournament will resume at 8 a.m. The pool will also be open for free swimming. Vendors, the corn toss tournament and crush-a-car will all return on Sunday as well.

As of 2:30 p.m. Saturday, officials were still checking with the scheduled entertainers about their availability for Sunday.

All scheduled morning activities were completed on Saturday.
