Greg Puckett, 61, of Rantoul, Ill., formerly of Greencastle, died on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

He was born May 1, 1948 in Tazewell, Va., a son of Frank Puckett Sr. and Mayleen Little Puckett. He married Suzi LeMieux on May 18, 1990 in Danville, Ill., and she survives.

Formerly, Mr. Puckett lived and worked in Greencastle before moving to Illinois. He worked at Flex-N-Gate Corporation in Urbana, Ill. for 26 years before retiring in 2004. Because he could not play golf in the winter, he re-joined the work force with Eagle Wings Industry, Inc and then Engineered Plastics Components, Inc., both in Rantoul.

Also surviving are his mother Mayleen Puckett of Greencastle; a son, Scott Puckett of Marshall, Mich.; two stepsons; Chad Smith and wife Marlana of Rantoul and Michael Smith and wife Randi of Rantoul; two daughters, Deena Meriedth and husband Jeff of Mahomet, Ill., Wendy McElhaney and husband Dale of Mahomet and June Wagle Sanders (Mother of Deena, Scott and Wendy) of Tolono, Ill.; four brothers, Frank Puckett Jr. and wife Nancy of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Dan Puckett and wife Jo of Greencastle, Kieth Puckett and wife Dawn of Greencastle and Jim Puckett of Oxford; three sisters, Barbara Martin and husband Dale of Crawfordsville, Debbie Bratcher of Crawfordsville and Paula Perkins and husband John of Collinsville; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul, Ill. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Mausoleum, Champaign, Ill.

There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lux Memorial Chapel.

His love of life, family, hunting and golf are his legacy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
