National Night Out is cancelled

GREENCASTLE -- National Night Out, scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Robe-Ann Park, has been cancelled.

The event will not be rescheduled, said co-chairman Linda Merkle with Putnam County Youth Development.

It does seem like a lot of work and advertising went into this. I know someone behind the scenes must be very disappointed. Whoever planned and worked hard on this thanks for the work you did toward the community. It does not go unrecognized.

If the community is really serious about getting together as a community to show support for law enforcement and wanting to reduce crime, then the event HAS to be rescheduled. If it isn't, then it's just all talk and no action.

Why didn't they have it anyway? It had stopped raining when it was set to start. I hated that it was cancelled.
