Robert Maurice "Bob" Eggers, 55, of Madison died on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

He was born Aug. 2, 1954 in Greencastle, the son of Norman Lewis and Edna J. Wright Eggers, both of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Eggers was raised in Fillmore and graduated in 1973 from Arthur Campbell High School in Plainfield. He attended Ivy Tech, taking classes in robotics. He married Janice Faye Thompson on July 12, 1979. To this union arrived a son and a daughter to bless their home.

He first worked for Wilbur Taylor Contracting for several years. He later worked as a self employed painter for 10 years. He then worked for 25 years as a Millwright Local 1003 in Indianapolis. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, camping, his grandchildren and playing poker. His 1965 Mustang was his pride and joy. He had resided in Madison since 1974.

Survivors include his wife; daughter Teresa Williams and companion Robert Bethke of Madison; son Joshua Maurice Eggers of Madison; grandchildren Erin Burress, Matthew Burress, Jacob Bruner, Trenten Maurice Eggers, Brooklyn Grace Eggers and Jayce Bethke; three sisters, Michelle Griffin, Jackie Hogan of Clayton and Vickie Cyrus and husband Mark of Brooksburg; brother Norman Lee Eggers and wife Beth of Madison; several nieces and nephews, one aunt and several cousins.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Dr. in Madison with Pastor Mark Thomas officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison.

Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
