William Elbert Huffman, 83, Brazil, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009 at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville.

He was born June 17, 1926 in Putnam County, the son of Reese and Lulu Aker Huffman.

Mr. Huffman was a 1944 graduate of Staunton High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp until his honorable discharge. He married Betty Smith on Aug. 23, 1952.

He worked in the construction business as a carpenter until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Brazil and a member of the Carpenters Union.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Huffman and wife Maria of Brazil and Doug Huffman and wife Mindy of Centerpoint; four grandchildren, Laura, Clay, Jenae, and Kaley Huffman; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty in 2007; and one brother, Jack Huffman.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Witte officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Betty Huffman Scholarship Fund at First Christian Church, 1875 W. U.S. Hwy. 40, Brazil IN 47834.
