GREENCASTLE -- Landowners who experienced flood damage or were impacted by last year's flood are invited to attend a half-day field day with the Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District on Friday.

Sue Crafton with the Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District reminds residents that a Multi-County Cover Crop Field Day will be held this Friday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Ames 4K Farms.

"Topics will involve walking the cover crop plots, digging some roots to view the root systems of the cover crops and discussions on when and how to seed the differing types of cover crops," said Crafton.

There will be discussion on specific cover crops and their pluses and minuses. The tour will conclude with a complementary luncheon during which time a panel of local farmers will be addressing cover crop issues from their personal experiences.

The event is hosted by Ames 4K Farms and will end at 1 p.m.

"Anyone desiring seating should bring lawn chairs. The field day will take place rain or shine, so dress appropriately," noted Crafton.

For anyone wishing to attend or for more information please contact the Putnam County SWCD at 653-7454.
