Three Putnam County young ladies have been looking forward to the beginning of school this year.

Krista Klindt, Brittanie Brannemann and Shelbey Richey have been selected as Lyon Family Scholars for 2009.

Cloverdale High School graduate Branneman hopes to become a veterinarian because of her love of animals. She will enter the pre-vet science program at Indiana State University.

Klindt

Klindt, also a CHS grad, has done a great deal of volunteer work at Hope Haven Horse Farm and has received high praise from its executive director. She hopes to go into nursing and will attend IUPUI.

The third scholarship recipient is Shelbey Richey, who resides in Fillmore and has attended the Indiana Academy in Muncie for the last two years. Richey would like to go into medicine and will attend IU Bloomington.

All three girls will receive scholarships valued up to $10,000 per year for two years from the Lyon Family Scholarship administered by the Putnam County Community Foundation. Scholarship applications are available on the Foundation website and are awarded yearly.

The Putnam County Community Foundation is a nonprofit public charity established in 1985 to administer endowments, award grants and provide community development, enriching the quality of life and strengthening community in Putnam County. The Community Foundation administers more than 180 funds for donors, supporting a variety of charitable purposes.
