Greencastle falls to Speedway in 3

GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle High School volleyball team dropped to 0-5 on the season and is now 0-1 in the West Central Conference after losing to Speedway in three sets, 25-9, 25-14, 25-8 on Saturday.

"We have a long way to go but, we are inching along in the right direction," GHS Coach Trish Lowe said about her team's loss. "We are working on some new rotations and some new positions and we will continue to work and improve."

Leading the Lady Tiger Cubs was Chelsea Samuels who had 25 digs, five blocks, including one stuff, 17 attacks and five kills. Alongside Samuels was Kandice Phillips, who had 13 digs, 29 sets, six assists, four points and was 10-for-10 serving with two aces. Jessie Bennett had three digs and three kills while Jordyn Lewis had 16 digs, 14 sets, five assists, two kills and was 3-for-3 serving. Kayla Nobles had 15 digs, three points and was 7-for-8 serving with an ace, while Braden Amis had five blocks and was 1-for-1 serving.

The Lady Tiger Cubs are back in action on Tuesday when they host the Wildcats of South Vermillion at 6 p.m.
