Wolfsie coming to Heritage Lake

COATESVILLE -- Author, columnist, writer and TV personality Dick Wolfsie will entertain community members on Sept. 24 at the Heritage Lake Clubhouse at 7 p.m. The event is free to the public.

The well-known Hoosier will present his narrative entitled "Why We Laugh," an event sponsored by the Heritage Lake Book Club and Heritage Lake Community Services.

This is the third year the two Heritage Lake organizations have offered an evening with an author to the public.

Wolfsie has lent his unique brand of wit and humor to the television screen for over 17 years. Many of his video essays and reports are syndicated nationally.

He is presently a weekly humor columnist for 25 central Indiana newspapers. He has written 12 books, including his newest, Mornings with Barney. His bestseller Indiana Curiosities is now in its third printing.

His column can be read in the Banner Graphic on either Wednesday or Friday once or twice a month.

His work in the media has netted him more than two dozen awards, including a regional Emmy for best host, a national ACE award and a Casper Award while host and producer of AM Indiana.

He has hosted local talk shows in New York, Chicago, Boston and Columbus, Ohio. He also served as a regular host for a series of multimedia cable talk shows originating in New York and broadcast throughout the U.S. and Canada.

He has extensive radio experience, including his own talk show on WIBC. He has published articles for Indianapolis Monthly and several national publications. He has also written and produced stories for WFYI's "Across Indiana."

He lives in Indianapolis with his wife Mary Ellen, an administrator at Butler University. They have one son Brett who is a sophomore at the University of Indianapolis.

You can hear Dick on WFYI, 90.1 FM, every Saturday at noon and Sundays at 8:30 a.m. when he shares his favorite columns with radio listeners.

The Heritage Lake Clubhouse is located in northern Putnam County. It can be accessed from either C.R. 725 E to 600 N or C.R. 525 N to Heritage Drive. Once on Heritage Drive, turn onto Mt. Vernon Drive (EMS 43 or EMS 49). Follow Mt. Vernon Drive to Delaware Drive, take Delaware to Lexington Drive. Turn left on Lexington and follow to the Clubhouse complex.
