Lindsey D. Lewis, 84, Bainbridge, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1925 in Cooks Branch, Ky., to Andrew and Eliza Neal Lawson Lewis.

He served his country in the U.S. Airforce and U.S. Navy.

Mr. Lewis was a member of Somerset Christian Church, Greencastle Lion's Club, International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen and a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He retired from Lewis and Volee Brick Masons in Indianapolis.

His parents and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Syble A. Lewis; children, Linda Clark, Douglas Lewis, Bill VanBibber and wife Sue, Ronnie VanBibber and wife Terry, Linda VanBibber; sister, Marie Proctor; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, 4 Percy L. Julian Drive, with Pastor Scott Volland, the Rev. D. Louis Hale and the Rev. Marvis Hale officiating. Interment Honors will follow at Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Lewis will be remembered for his love of gardening, hunting, cooking and was well known at the farmer's market.
