GREENCASTLE -- A Greencastle woman remains lodged in the Putnam County Jail after an incident Saturday in which she allegedly injured four people with a knife.

Treva J. Jackson, 35, is charged with four counts of Class C felony battery by means of a deadly weapon, each punishable by up to eight years in prison. She has entered not guilty pleas to all charges, and a pretrial conference in the case has been set for Nov. 12.

Putnam County Superior Court Judge Denny Bridges set Jackson's bond at $20,000 cash only.

According to court records, Greencastle Police Department officers were called to Old Toppers Tavern at 3:30 a.m. Saturday in reference to a battery involving a possible stabbing.

Witnesses said the incident began in the bar when Jackson began verbally taunting another patron, Jessica Phares.

According to an affidavit for probable cause, Phares and Jackson first exchanged words, then traded punches.

"Jessica then reported that Treva grabbed her hair, and that was when several males intervened and attempted to break up the fight."

Witnesses said Jackson was brandishing a knife with which she injured Phares and three men who tried to break up the fight between Jackson and Phares.

Phares' boyfriend, Scott Hoover, is currently incarcerated in connection with the Dec. 15, 2007 prescription drug overdose death of Jackson's teenage son Dietrich Jackson. Phares was also initially charged in connection with Dietrich Jackson's death, but all charges against her were dismissed.

Court documents said witnesses heard Jackson tell Phares, "My son ain't breathing; you shouldn't be either."

Phares sustained minor lacerations to her left index and middle fingers when she tried to grab the knife away from Jackson, court documents said.

Also injured in the altercation were Toby Williams, who received a minor laceration to his right hand; Jeffrey King, who also sustained a minor laceration to his right hand; and Christopher Wasnidge-Williams, who sustained a minor cut on his right forearm.

  • Daaaang, someone needs help. The death of I child is very hard. She needs to talk to someone, not drown the pain in alcohol.

  • Wow, I'm shocked that Toppers ever has enough people in it to stay open til 3:30 am. Oh by the way does anyone know if the steakhouse is closed for good? Not trying to make light of the story, but they had pretty good food.

  • Seriously when is this family going to stop blaming other people for his death? He made his own choice and i was very close with this boy and knew that was not the first time he tried the things he did that night. it was his choice so stop blaming everyone else. You know hes looking down and watching and would not like the way some of his family is acting, he wouldnt want it! Its a sad situation but your only making it worse!

  • Unless you have lost a child and walked a day in Treva's shoes NO ONE Knows just what she is going through!! It is Not For Anyone To Judge Her!! That Is For Our Good Lord To Do and the Judicial System..As The Bible Says "Judge Not Least You Be Judged!" As far as it goes for her younger children I am SURE THEY WERE IN VERY GOOD CARE FOR SHE IS A VERY GOOD MOTHER AND ALWAYS SEEN TO IT THAT IF SHE WENT OUT THAT THEY WERE IN VERY GOOD CARE!!!! Our Prayers Go Out To Her For No One Really Knows Just What She Is Going Through Except Her..Yes She Does Need To Talk With A Pastor or The Experts To Help Her Through All This and All Of Us Would Too If We Had To Go Through With All That She Has Had to Endure!!!

Prayers Go Out To All!! May God Bless You All!!!
