MADISON -- Despite the weather and the running conditions, the Greencastle High School girls cross country team, placed second in the Madison Courier Invitational Saturday with 33 points.

Madison won the invite with 28 points, but Greencastle had five runners in the top 10.

Colleen Weatherford finished second overall and led the Lady Tiger Cubs with a time of 21:34, while Kayla Cash finished third with a time of 22:09.9. Emily Gill finished eighth with a time of 22:21 and Sara Culler ran a 23:18, awarding herself with a ninth place finish, while Jasmine Dwigans time of 23:23 rounded out the top ten.

"The competition was real keen from Madison," Anderson said. 'They are a preseason ranked team and still are ranked, so I was looking forward to see how our girls would stack up against them.

"Even though we had our first five finish in the top ten, Madison was still able to pull the win because of their first, third, fifth and seventh place finishes," Anderson added. "But our grouping at eighth through tenth, put pressure on them to do well."
