CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The North Putnam volleyball team fell to Southmont Thursday in three sets, 25-10, 25-14 and 25-22.

Megan Gray had seven assists, with Megan Robinson adding two kills and two stuff blocks. Paxton Stephenson had five kills, while Carlye McGaughey added three kills and Mackensy Asbell added two stuff blocks.

"We started out slow and could never catch up," NPHS head coach Jill Schreiber said. "It just wasn't our night. We were making mental mistakes, communication mistakes -- things at this point in the season, we shouldn't be making."

Schreiber noted that her setter did a great job in the match, but Southmont's play was elevated due to the fact that it was their senior night. She also commented that her team's mental mistakes didn't help them out at all.

Despite the loss, she feels her team is doing things well, but their progression needs to go forward.

"We're gaining, but we're also taking steps back and at this point in the season, we shouldn't be doing that," Schreiber commented.

North Putnam will host Danville on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
