To the Editor:

The JD Miller Benefit Dinner, held Sept. 26, was a great success due to the participation of many people.

First Christian and Peace Lutheran churches worked together planning the event. Administration, faculty and students of Greencastle Middle School and Deer Meadow Elementary School contributed gift baskets for a silent auction that raised $1,132.

The GMS student council members gave outstanding assistance with drinks, desserts and cleanup.

A volleyball game at GMS between the team and faculty contributed $300.

Friends, family and others in attendance paid for a delicious buffet of food. Cooks Harry and Jerry Mackey, with their assistants, traveled to Greencastle to donate their time preparing the food.

The net proceeds included $1,600 matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans

The abundance of love and fellowship during the evening was a testament to JD's spiritual and academic gifts for all whose lives he has touched.

Thank you to everyone who donated time, talents and financial resources to make this a successful event.

Special thanks to McDonalds, Wal-Mart and Double Decker for donations of ice and supplies, and Crown Equipment and Ambler Hill for use of parking facilities.
