Swinging to the Oldies

Mya Weddle celebrated her fifth birthday Thursday during the recent Rock and Roll sock hop at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. While a number of people enjoyed the silent auction, vintage Elvis movie and drive-in 50s style food served by members of Extension Homemakers, Mya thought the entire event was her own special birthday party. She and several of her friends arrived dressed for the occasion in felt poodle skirts and were the life of the party. Weddle is the daughter of Jasmine Weddle and granddaughter of Veronica Bryant. The Putnam County Extension Homemakers sponsored the sock hop. It was made possible by donations of many local groups and businesses. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Putnam County Coats for Kids campaign and the fairgrounds.
