Amanda Smith of Bloomington will fill the part-time reference librarian position. Library director Alice Greenburg told the board Smith previously worked as a librarian in Florida.

In other business:

* The library received its first tax draw in early September. Greenburg said it was 65 percent of what was approved. During financial reports, Greenburg said there was an average of 16.6 percent of the budget left for the remaining two months of the year.

* The library's stats were down slightly with the exception of the Internet, which is up 42 percent from 2008. Greenburg told the board there have been a number of people having to wait for a computer. Most patrons using the computers are applying for jobs or logging on to government Web sites.

* The board adopted its 2010 budget.

* A resolution to make transfers within the operating fund was unanimously approved, along with the Technology Plan for 2010-12. The technology plan will be sent to the state library for final approval.
