Sheriff's Dept. collecting for families in need

Friday, November 13, 2009
GREENCASTLE -- It's that time of year again.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department will be collecting names of families to receive help with Christmas dinner.

Through donations of money, turkeys, hams, canned goods, candy and stockings, there were 36 families in Putnam County helped last year. All the baskets were packed by PCSD employees and delivered by deputies before Christmas Eve.

Anyone in the county who will need assistance with a Christmas meal this year can contact the sheriff's department at 653-3211. Information will be taken at that time and those names added to a list.

People who will benefit from a food basket can also be nominated, but an accurate address is required for delivery.

Donations of food or money for the baskets can be dropped off at PCSD, 13 Keightly Rd.
