Extension Board member Rodger Winger and Extension Educator Jackie Baumann presented the award and plaques to Dorris,
"She acknowledged she had an inkling that something was up when she saw a number of her family members in attendance at the meeting," said Baumann.
While citing many of Dorris' contributions to both Putnam County Extension and the community, Winger told those in attendance, "Dorris was the unanimous choice of the selection committee."
She is a member of the Pals on the Go Extension Homemakers Club and has been both a 4-H leader and a Master Gardener volunteer. She is the current County President of Extension Homemakers and is serving her tenth year as the superintendent of the Adult Open Class exhibit hall at the Putnam County Fair.
"Geneva Dorris was an easy choice for this year's Friend of Extension Award, since she is a true leader who leads by example and because she lives her values of family, faith and reaching out to help other," added Baumann.
