Doris Tharp

Doris L. (Sutherlin) Tharp, 81, of Greencastle died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Doris was born June 11, 1928 in Putnamville, the daughter of Roy and Lucy (Langdon) Sutherlin.

Doris was a member of the Church of Christ in Cloverdale and was a member of the Cloverdale High School Class of 1946. She retired from P.R. Mallorys in 1980 after 20 years, and had previously worked at RCA in Indianapolis and the Angwell Curtain Factory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis E. Tharp in 2007, her parents, two sisters, Virginia Walker and Imogene Wrightsman, two brothers, Arnold and Norman Sutherlin and a step-sister, Betty Cooper and Step Brother, Dick Davis

Doris is survived by her brother, Lester Sutherlin of Waleska, Fla.; her sister, Betty Jones of Bay City, Texas; a half-sister, Eva Jean Shaw of Naples, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, 602 E. Washington St. Greencastle, with burial in the Cloverdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
