MOORESVILLE -- The Greencastle swim teams competed in the Mooresville Invitational Tuesday, with both teams coming away with second place finishes on the day.

For the girls, Melissa Ball was a three-time winner, capturing the 50 freestyle in 25.78 and the 100 butterfly in 1:05.01. She was also part of the 200 freestyle relay team, along with Natasha Aring, Sydney Terry and Melanie Bittles, which was victorious.

Terry was second in the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:12.40, with Aring finishing second in the 200 IM and third in the 500 freestyle.

Mitchell Ball, who was named swimmer of the meet, after posting season best times in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly, led the boys' team.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Luke Smith, Walter Chiarella, Jesse Elkins and Ball picked up the win.

"Had several good swims on the day-- it was an exciting meet," GHS head coach Luke Beasley said. "It's always fun to compete in an invitational-style setting with lots of team and lots of fun races and fast swimming.

"We're going to continue to go full speed ahead with our winter training and look to come out stronger after break," Beasley commented.
