Joseph Robert Thurman

Joseph Robert Thurman, 77, of Greencastle died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 in Methodist Hospital.

Mr. Thurman was a retired bricklayer and a USMC veteran of the Korean War.

Joe will be missed by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Ashlock Thurman; their children Joseph, Norman, Michael, Kenneth, Jeffrey, Dwayne Logan, Veda Thurman Carver and Leslie Anne Thurman; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his brother James Elliot.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial to follow in Clayton Cemetery. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Joe's family would like you to know he was devoted to his wife and children, and a man anyone would be proud to call friend.
