Dave Lilly of Greencastle donates blood Tuesday during a blood drive at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. The drive was sponsored by the church and the Knights of Columbus. Also pictured is Mindy Rutledge, a phlebotomist from the Indiana Blood Center. Lilly, who called himself a "fairly regular" blood donor, has type O negative blood -- which is always in demand because it can be given to people with any blood type.

  • I would gladly have donated if I had known about this before the event. Publicity after the fact doesn't do much good. Perhaps next time an article ahead of time will increase donations.
