He was born Dec. 9, 1918 in Brazil, the son of Clem Raymond and Anna Margaret Baumunk Rissler. He graduated from Reelsville High School and the Louisville Baptist Theological Seminary and was a minister for 71 years with the American Baptist Churches, pastoring in several Indiana communities.
The Rev. Rissler married Hester Irene Blair on Sept. 1, 1939 and she survives. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past September.
Also surviving is a daughter, Patricia Rissler Hallett and husband William of Canadaigua, N.Y.; sons, James Rissler of Kissimmee, Fla. and Donald Rissler and wife Laila of Brazil; six grandchildren, Sheri Kershner, Michael Hallett, Brian, Kimberly, Mark Rissler and Amy Rissler; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Jean Sutherlin Olson of Bainbridge; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with burial to follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
