SWCDs hosting contractors meeting

CLOVERDALE -- The Putnam and Owen County SWCDs are hosting a Contractors meeting Saturday at the Cloverdale Holiday Inn Express to update contractors on the Natural Resource and Conservation Service (NRCS) guidelines for building land structures.

Fred Glover, NRCS civil engineering technician, will be speaking to the contractors about changes that have been instituted and why they are important in the layout and design of farmland structures to help the farmers preserve their top soil and enhance good water quality.

This is an annual meeting designed by Putnam County Soil and Water to serve as continuing education for the contractors who serve this area. Attendance at this meeting will ensure your name being included on the contractor list held in each local office.

A list of current contractors can be obtained at the Putnam and Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District offices.
