The 22nd annual West Central Indiana Quail Unlimited banquet and fundraiser is scheduled for Feb. 27 in the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport, located off U.S. Hwy. 240 at Ballard Lane in Greencastle. Dixie Chopper is the corporate sponsor of the event.
Proceeds from last year's fundraiser helped to further the efforts toward establishing wildlife habitat and supporting youth activities, including a fall hunter safety class and safe firearm handling and instruction to the 4-H shooting sports participants.
Scheduled activities include a "seven gun salute" raffle with only 100 tickets sold, a 22-item live auction featuring art by some of the nation's best wildlife artists and hand-carved decoys by Jules Bouillet of Vincennes. Some special live auction items are a Winchester Model 1890 (22 long rifle), an Amish solid oak curio cabinet, a Budweiser tavern mirror, and a 22 caliber Henry Golden Boy. There will be games and prizes for youths, a table of ladies gifts for a lucky winner, and a silent auction.
The evening begins with beverages and appetizers at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 and the auction to follow.
Tickets are available at Humphreys' Outdoor Power, 950 N. Jackson St., Greencastle, or by calling Lynn Wilson at 246-6306. The public is invited to attend. Ticket sales will conclude at 5 p.m. Feb. 24.
