Edwin S. Robertson, DDS, Indianapolis, died in Greencastle on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 after a seven-year battle with cancer.

Born March 8, 1934 to the late Dr. Ray B. and Helen Bockstahler Robertson, Ed attended Culver summer camp for many years and was a 1952 graduate of Culver Military Academy. Following graduation from Denison University in 1956, he served in the U.S. Army.

Upon graduation from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1963, he set up practice in Indianapolis and over the next 40 years developed a family of staff and patients. After his retirement he continued to serve the community with Donated Dental Services and volunteered at the Dental Society office.

In addition to his professional work, Ed was devoted to his family. He and his wife, Cynthia (Baldwin), shared a marriage and friendship for over 52 years. Some of his happiest times were spent in Michigan and Florida with family and friends, boating, golfing and "fishing."

He was an avid sports enthusiast, with season tickets for the Pacers since the days of the ABA and for the Colts since their arrival in Indianapolis. Best of all he enjoyed cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events.

Never idle, Ed took great pleasure in being involved with people. He became an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in the 1960s. He served as alumni advisor for the Delta Upsilon fraternity at Denison University and was a past member of the Kiwanis Club, Lambs Club, Skyline Club and Contemporary Club. Ed held the honor of being the longest reigning treasurer of the ONAMIC Investment Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond B. Robertson, MD and Richard J. Robertson, RPh.

Survivors include daughters Rebecca (Michael) Moore of Greencastle and Pamela Robertson, MD (James Bolton) of Columbus; and his grandchildren, Abe, Alys, Griffin and Spencer Moore, Grant Bolton, and Lindsay (Josh) Tunny.

Friends may call on Friday at The Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis from 4 to 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Indianapolis.
