GREENCASTLE -- Indiana pork production will take center stage Monday at the meeting of the Greencastle Lions Club.

David Hardin of Hardin Farms near Danville will address the group at 6:30 p.m. at Monical's Pizza, 29 Putnam Plaza, Greencastle.

"The Pork Industry: More Than Just the Other White Meat," the speech by Hardin, will showcase the industry's rural economic impact plus on-going programs to enhance the nutritional quality of pork, to protect the environment and to treat livestock humanely.

"Like other industries facing strong competitive pressures," Hardin said, "We're working to constantly improve our ability to provide tasty, affordable and nutritious pork products in a responsible manner. I'd like to thank the Greencastle Lions Club for giving me an opportunity to discuss how pork producers are providing quality pork products, benefiting the local economy and being responsible neighbors."

ardin is one of more than 3,000 pork producers in Indiana. He said Indiana's swine industry contributes more than $3 billion to the state's economy each year.
