Nancy Rae Valenkamph

Nancy Rae Valenkamph, 51, of DeMotte died on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at her residence after a 2 1/2 year battle with Neuro Endocrine Cancer.

She was born Nov. 23, 1958 to Frank and Katherine Skinner Scott both survive.

Nancy was a 1977 graduate of Bloomington South High School, where she played volleyball and basketball. She went on to get her B.A. in marketing at St. Joseph College in 1981, where she also played volleyball and basketball. On Aug. 22, 1981, she married Bertil Valenkamph, who survives.

For the past 20 years, she worked at Kankakee Valley High School as a secretary assistant and teacher's aide in the learning disabilities class. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Christian Church and participant and supporter of the American Cancer Society. Nancy also coached volleyball and basketball at North Newton and KV school corporations. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Bertil Valenkamph of DeMotte; children Rebekah Marie Valenkamph of Columbus, Ohio and Bertil Scott (fiancée Amber Trusty) Valenkamph of DeMotte; parents Frank and Katherine Scott of Bloomington; mother-in-law Dolores Valenkamph of Clinton, Mass.; brother Randall (Kristi) Scott of Spencer; sister Rhonda Scott of Bloomington; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws Jack and Geri Novia of Princeton, Mass. and Tony and Sandra Diluzio of Worcester, Mass.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jackson Funeral Service, 200 Third St. SW, DeMotte. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Grace Fellowship Christian Church, DeMotte, with Pastor Tim Hester officiating.
