GREENCASTLE -- A Danville teenager is facing felony battery charges after allegedly injuring a 2-year-old child.
Joshua L. Card, 19, will be in court May 6 for a pretrial conference. He was arrested after the alleged victim's mother brought the child to the emergency department of the Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle. The child had "severe bruising on her buttocks," a report from the Greencastle Police Department said.
"Joshua Card admitted that he was upset with the child because she would not go to sleep," a report from GPD Assistant Chief Brian Hopkins said.
Putnam County Child Protective Services was also notified to assist with the investigation.
Card has been charged with Class D felony battery resulting in bodily injury, which carries a maximum sentence of three years. Putnam County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Headley set Card's bond at $10,000 with 10 percent allowed. Card posted the 10 percent and was released from jail.
Headley also ordered that Card is to have no contact with the alleged victim or her family.
