Habitat holds annual meeting
BAINBRIDGE -- Putnam County's Habitat for Humanity held its Annual meeting Saturday morning at the Bainbridge Community Center. The Bainbridge Improvement Society co-sponsored the event that had 48 people in attendance.
Representatives from the North Putnam High School football team were recognized by Habitat for their help in building in 2009. A PowerPoint presentation of homes built in the past as well as a mention of the needs and goals of the organization and a breakfast made and served by Susan Price were part of the program.
Representatives from the Bainbridge United Methodist Church, Roachdale Christian Church, Bainbridge Christian Church, Union Chapel United Methodist Church and the Roachdale Presbyterian Church were welcomed by 2009 board president Darrel Brouhard.
Volunteers from last year were honored with certificates. Brouhard went over the organization's accomplishments in 2009, including the completion of the last home in the Roachdale subdivision for a single mother with six children, the purchase of a corner lot on 3rd and South St. in Bainbridge for the next build and the receipt of a grant from The United Way.
2010 board members Chris Scott, president Darrel Brouhard, vice president Garry Dyar, secretary Leslie Lathrop, treasurer Ron Price, Teresa Brouhard and Brian Lathrop were announced.
Scott discussed the organization's needs for 2010. These include having skilled and non-skilled volunteers and committee members and the further development of the Web site.
A goal date of May 1, 2010 was set to break ground on the Bainbridge build.
Habitat is currently accepting applications for partner families.
An auction/dinner is planned as a major fundraiser this year on Sept.18 at the Walden Inn. Tickets are available from the Habitat Office by calling 653-5360.
