Stu Fabe and Marla Helton

The Putnam County Community Foundation recently announced the creation of the Stuart Fabe and Marla Helton Endowment benefiting the Community Grants Program of the Putnam County Community Foundation.

Fabe created an endowment at the Community Foundation as a way to give back to the community.

"We feel we owe a lot to the people and the land of Putnam County," he said.

Fabe was a long-time Cincinnati resident who enjoyed a fruitful career in charitable fundraising. Helton is a native of Putnam County.

In 2003, Fabe and Helton became partners, both in life and in producing unique art. They are gourd artists, and each brings a unique, artistic vision to the gourd-art world.

They enjoy life on their farm and sharing ideas and techniques with each other.

"We feel a strong connection to nature, and our art reflects that commitment," said Fabe. "In essence, we enjoy giving artistic life to an entity that once held natural life."

The Stuart Fabe and Marla Helton Endowment supports the Community Grants Program of the Putnam County Community Foundation, which has awarded more than $2 million to benefit all corners of the county. Anyone may contribute to the Stuart Fabe and Marla Helton Endowment or start a new endowment in his or her own name.

Contributions to the Endowment should be made payable to the Putnam County Community Foundation with "Stuart Fabe" in the memo, and mailed to 2 South Jackson Street, Greencastle, IN 46135.

Community Foundation staff are available to help donors make gifts of cash, stock, retirement assets, life insurance, bequests, real estate and other types of gifts.

The Community Foundation administers more than 200 funds and endowments for donors, supporting a variety of charitable purposes. To learn more about the Silver Anniversary League or how to start a new fund, visit www.pcfoundation.org or call 653-4978.
