To the Editor:

The South Putnam Community Education Foundation would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for donating their time and financial support for our fundraiser "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader," held Friday night in Central Elementary: Alex Alleys, Dairy Castle, Dominos, McDonalds, Walden Inn, and Wal-Mart, as well as foundation board members Melinda Heavin, John and Maxine Davies, Mark Wildman, Becky Brothers, Carla Stierwalt, and Patti and Steve Cash.

Susanne Sullivan was especially helpful in operating and designing the computer programming. Becky Brothers also secured a number of junior high and high school students to help at the contest.

We also want to thank the South Putnam principals Kieth Puckett, Debby Steffy, Brad Hayes, and Teresa Vapor and their staffs for their assistance in making this a success. We also want to thank our participating students from Fillmore: Evan Burton, Allison Bunton, Grace Taylor, and Jacob Maynard; from Reelsville: Drew Ballard, Noah Duby, Tiffany Kendall, Dustin DiRocco, Kody Britton, and Levi Whitaker; from Central: Jarrett Curran, Lois Cheatam, Hannah Hutson, and Jonah Sanders.

Our contestants were led by Jill McCammack, coming in first after an overtime competition with Cindy Evens. Also competing were Brandon Welti, and David Mann.

We also wish to thank those who attended and supported our foundation financially. Our Education Foundation, a 501c3 organization, provides teacher grants and student scholarships to the teachers and students of South Putnam.

To learn more or join this foundation, please join us for our annual meeting at 7 p.m. Friday, April 16 in the South Putnam High School Cafeteria.
