Letter to the Editor

Putnam County's Finest make us proud

Friday, April 9, 2010

To the Editor:

It is with great thanks and pride that I write today.

Tuesday morning's early hours were plagued by the reckless behavior of a small group of people. Most fortunately, no one was hurt and those suspected have been identified.

A routine day for local law enforcement ... hardly.

What we have been reminded of over the past 36 hours is how well trained and ready the men of the Greencastle Police force are to protect and defend our community. We also have been shown again the seamless cooperation that exists among our city departments and other law enforcement agencies.

My sincere thanks and that of our Greencastle citizens go to all of the members of the Greencastle Police Department, the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, the Indiana State Police Post at Putnamville and the Greencastle Fire Department for their work and help in moving quickly into action to find the violators of our peace and once again restore the sense of personal safety we, as a community, have come to enjoy and expect.

We are grateful for what you do and I am most proud of what you provide for our community.

Sue Murray

Mayor, City of Greencastle
