A Clean Sweep

Wednesday, April 28, 2010
The Greencastle Civic League, along with the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, City of Greencastle, Putnam County Commissioners and West Central Solid Waste, are sponsoring the 26th annual Clean Sweep Week for Putnam County. Mayor Sue Murray, center, signs a proclamation establishing the week of May 17 through 23 as clean sweep week. The Chamber of Commerce knows a clean and well-groomed city is important to make a good first impression and maintaining a sense of pride. The weeklong, organized effort will promote the cleanup of litter and trash by various community organizations and volunteers. A countywide collection day for bulky items, tires, appliances and more will be May 22. Present for the proclamation signing were Jennifer Bedwell, Tammy Amor, Mayor Murray, Jamey Landry, Missy Orr, Emily Knueth, Laurie Hardwick, Cathryn Ensley and Colleen Mathews. • Is the civic league selling flowers again this year? (I think they were petunias?)
