On Monday, the Child Abuse Prevention Month Committee held their Cherish the Children Walk in recognition of April being Child Abuse awareness month. Among the walkers were several community leaders representing the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Greencastle Police Department, City of Greencastle Mayor's Office, Putnam County Circuit and Superior Courts, Department of Children Services, Putnam County Juvenile Probation, Putnam County Family Support Services staff and board members, Putnam County School Corporations, Youth Development Commission/CASA, United Way of Putnam County, Head Start, Mental Health America of Putnam County, Putnam County Prosecutor's office and many community members. The walk began at Greencastle City Hall and continued up Washington Street and concluded at the Putnam County courthouse south lawn. The Bessie Rector award was then presented to the Honorable Judge Matthew Headley, pictured below, and pinwheels were placed in tribute to the victims of child abuse not only in Putnam County but everywhere. Pictured with Headley are Putnam County Family Support Services Executive Director Cari Cox, left, and PCFSS Board President Anita Edenfield.
