Bennie G. Heavin, 85, of Coatesville passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Mill Pond Health Campus.
He was born Sept. 21, 1924 to Fred and Nellie Storm Heavin in Putnam County.
He graduated from Amo High School in 1943 and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the southern Philippine campaign.
Bennie worked 30 years for Bridgeport Brass Company, retiring in 1989 as a foreman in the sheet mill. He also had served on the Coatesville Volunteer Fire Department, Coatesville Masonic Lodge No. 695 and the Coatesville Town Council from 1988 to 1991. He was presently a district director of the Amo-Coatesville Sewer Conservancy District.
His beloved wife Ruby Johnson Heavin survives.
His parents, brother Howard Heavin and sister Aileena Heavin preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Baptist Church, 7585 E. Rangeline Rd., Fillmore, with calling from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
