'Cove' residents helping feed local canines
GREENCASTLE -- Residents of Clearwater Cove, a memory care unit at The Waters of Greencastle, have been busy baking for the benefit of local canines. "Cove" residents made and baked bacon dog biscuits and donated the treats to the Putnam County Humane Society, Clay County Humane Society and Greencastle vet clinics.
"The residents enjoy the familiar activities of mixing, rolling, cutting and baking the dog cookies," said Stephanie Belvins, MPH, program director of the memory care units at The Waters. "This activity becomes an enjoyable outing for the residents when they deliver the dog biscuits and have an opportunity to visit with the dogs housed at the humane society.
"This is a meaningful activity coupled with a community service that is ideal for our residents sense of worth and connectedness," she added.
The Waters of Greencastle offers specialized care for those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia.
