Sandra Sue "Suzie" Dugan-Burnham, 64, of Cloverdale died Saturday, April 24 at the St. Vincent Hospice after a brief illness.

Born in Lebanon, Ind. she was the daughter of James C. and Carol K. Dugan.

In 2007, Suzie retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections where she had been a food services supervisor for many years.

She remarried William L. Burnham on Jan. 9, 1999 and he survives. Also surviving are her two sons William L. Burnham II of Cloverdale and James K. Crowell of Indianapolis; four sisters, Donna J. Teters, Dr. Dixie L. Dugan (John Truax), Jackie D. Kyle (Frank Kyle) and Mitzie D. Goodpaster (Melvin Goodpaster). She had four stepchildren, Shannon, Richard, Troy, and Tony Burnham. She had two grandchildren, Beckie McNeal and Dustin Burnham, three great-grandchildren, Natalie, Billie and Charlie McNeal, several step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

Suzie liked to spend her time fishing, cooking, playing bingo and Pogo on the computer. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Suzie attended Cloverdale High School, and later received her GED and participated in all of the class of 1964 reunions.

Suzie had a true gift of love and fearlessness. With her impending death she made sure that her final wishes would be carried out.

She also planned a celebration of life party on Sunday, April 18, 2010, where her many friends and extended family had an opportunity to share a few hours of enjoyment with her.

A continuation of this celebration of life and memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Cloverdale Community Building, located on Main Street in Cloverdale.
