Cloverdale golfers place third

The Cloverdale boys' golf team placed third Thursday in a four-way match at Sullivan. Sullivan won the match with a 161, followed by Owen Valley with 174, Cloverdale with 183 and White River Valley with a 244.

"It was a very disappointing afternoon," CHS head coach Doug Wokoun said. "We did not play well, and couldn't find a way to salvage ourselves from bad shots. The course was very tight and has very small greens. We didn't hit the fairways and couldn't get on the greens."

Chris Arnold led the team with a 41, while Sam Jordan followed closely with a 45. Gary Williams carded a 47, Alex Evans a 50 and Ryan Book shot a 52. Mike Matthews rounded out the scoring with a 55.

With Clay City coming to town on Tuesday, Wokoun knows his team must regroup and find some good things to build on.

"Everyone played some holes well, but the ones that got away were really devastating. We have to regroup yet again and try to find something positives to build on," Wokoun said.

Cloverdale will host Clay City Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
