Two lucky South Putnam High School graduates received a scholarship through Putnam County Retired Teacher's Association. The association's president Mariette Bargen, front left, extends a scholarship certificate to Catilynn McKinney with her mother Cheryl at her side. Scholarship committee member Marilyn Martin, far right, extends a scholarship certificate to Megan Criss with her mother Rebecca at her side. McKinney and Criss attend University of Southern Indiana. Criss, a 2008 graduate of SPHS, is studying pre-elementary education with a minor in mathematics and is an honor's list student. Her parents are Tony and Rebecca Criss of Reelsville. McKinney, a 2007 SPHS graduate, is studying elementary education with a reading minor and middle school endorsement. McKinney plans to graduate in 2011 and is an honor's list student at USI. She is the daughter of Doug and Cheryl McKinney of Brazil. Pictured with the scholarship recipients are scholarship committee members, back row from left, Judi Blaydes, Millie See and Marilyn Lawrence. This is an annual scholarship given out by the Retired Teacher's Association.
