Museum offering summer programs

Several programs will be offered this summer at the Putnam County Museum for children ages 7 and above.

All programs require registration at least one full week in advance. Call the museum at 653-8419 to register.

Programs will include:

Samplers: History with Needle and Thread, June 11, 9 a.m. to noon.

A $3 donation is requested for this program.

Learn the history behind historic samplers and lives of young girls and women in the 1800s.

See what life was like then and craft your own cross stitched sampler.

Wild Flowers, June 15, time to be announced.

A $2 donation is requested for this program.

Learn about the wild flowers that can be found locally throughout the year, then try your hand at creating some wild and crazy flowers of your own.

All supplies are provided.

PCM ROCKS!, June 24, 2 p.m.-4p.m.

A $2 donation is requested for this program.

Learn about the different types of rocks--sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous--and what can be found in Putnam County. Then, choose your own rocks to create your very own rock creature.

Fireworks Fling, July 2, 10-11 a.m.

Fee is $5.

Do you know why we have fireworks on the Fourth of July? Join us as we learn a bit about the history of Independence Day, and then create your very own Firework Fling T-Shirt.

Gone to the Birds, July 6, time to be announced.

A $2 donation is requested for this program.

Learn about the birds that can be found here locally throughout the year. Then make suet to take home and feed to the birds in your yard.
