CLOVERDALE -- In a rematch of the Putnam County Classic, the Cloverdale and Greencastle baseball teams split Tuesday. The Tiger Cubs won game one 1-0, while the Clovers won game two 7-1.

Kyle Martin took the mound for the Clovers in game one, recording seven strikeouts, four walks, three hits and one earned run in eight innings.

"It is tough losing such a great game like that, but we didnt get the job done with our bats. Kyle done a great job of mixing his pitches up and throwing strikes," CHS head coach Bryan Archer said.

In game two, Jordan Brinkman and Brian Dale were 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs each to lead the Clovers.

Brinkman and Josh Burdette teamed up to deliver some nice pitching for Cloverdale. They combined for five strikeouts, four hits, three walks and one earned run.

"The second game of the night we were more aggressive at the plate, as well as being smart at the plate," Archer said. "We took some walks and did a good job of capitalizing when we had guys on base. Jordan and Josh threw very well and the defense made some really nice plays behind them.
