Murray and Sara Pride Scholarship winner to be announced today

Lifelong educators, Murray and Sara Pride have established a scholarship endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation. The first recipient of the scholarship will be named today.

The Putnam County Community Foundation is pleased to announce a new scholarship endowment.

The first winner of the Murray and Sara Pride Scholarship will be announced at the North Putnam Honors and Awards Program on Friday at 1 p.m. in the high school gym.

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from North Putnam High School who best exemplifies the character and values most important to the Prides: honesty, a strong work ethic, volunteerism, a commitment to school and community, participation in extra-curricular activities, community service, and pursuit of a variety of interests.

Lifelong educators, Murray and Sara Pride moved to Putnam County in 1994. Mr. Pride served as Superintendent of North Putnam Community Schools until his retirement in 2009.

Both the Prides are active in the Putnam County community. They enjoy seeing students grow and mature during their school years and believe this growth and maturity is enhanced when students are involved in a variety of community and school activities.

This scholarship, awarded each year to a graduating North Putnam High School senior, is their way of giving back to the North Putnam students who so enriched their lives.

Anyone may contribute a fully tax deductible donation to the Murray and Sara Pride Scholarship Endowment, or start a new endowment for any charitable purpose in his or her own name.

Contributions to the Endowment should be made payable to the Putnam County Community Foundation with "Murray and Sara Pride" in the memo, and mailed to 2 South Jackson Street, Greencastle, IN 46135.

Community Foundation staff are available to help donors make gifts of cash, stock, retirement assets, life insurance, bequests, real estate and other types of gifts.
