Riders enjoyed perfect weather during last year's Big Dog Ride Benefit for K9 search teams.

GREENCASTLE -- The American Mantrailing Academy is sponsoring their third annual Big Dog Benefit Ride in support of K9 rescue dog and trainer teams today.

The more-than 100-mile ride starts at U.S. 40 and S.R. 231 (South Putnam High School) and concludes at beautiful Quarry Lake in Putnam County. All bikes are welcome.

At the conclusion of the ride, participants will enjoy a cookout, a poker hand, live entertainment featuring the Southern Rock Band F-5 and a 50/50 drawing to win a Marlin Model 1894 lever action rifle.

The cost for this event is $25 for individuals or $30 for couples. The cost to attend just the after party with the cookout and entertainment is $15 per person or $20 per couple.

All proceeds from the Big Dog Ride go to support free and low cost training of search and rescue K-9s and their handlers as well as law enforcement K-9s who search for the lost and missing.

The American Mantrailing Academy is home to members throughout the Midwest as well as Germany and British Columbia. For more information or to register or make a donation online, visit the American Mantrailing Academy at www.americanmantrailing.com.

  • what day is this event ?????

  • Well, this is Saturdays edition and the story does say TODAY, however a starting time would be nice. Also Quarry lake is semi private and not many people in Put Co know its' location, so a road location would be helpful. To be fair the BG was probably just printing the info the Mantrailers gave them.

  • I agree with all that 'exhoosier2' Has to say and would like to add:

Every publication of a pending event should, AT LEAST ONE WEEKI IN ADVANCE, contain the following:

    WHO,,,,WHEN,,,,,WHERE,,,,WHY,,,,,COST,,,

Did I miss an earlier notification in the BG of

    this event?

It's difficult, to say the least, to prepare for an event such as this, especially,on the day it is to be held.
