South Putnam advances to regional final

The South Putnam baseball team, shown here after its sectional win, defeated Evansville Mater Dei 7-6 and will play in tonight's regional championship at Linton-Stockton beginning at 7 p.m.

LINTON - South Putnam defeated Class 2A No. 6 ranked Evansville Mater Dei 7-6, with a five home run game, two of which were two-run homers and will advance to the Linton-Stockton Regional Championship tonight at 7 p.m.

South Putnam led 6-3 most of game, with Mater Dei tying the game at 6-all in the top of the 7th on home run and a South Putnam error. In the bottom of the 7th, South Putnam won 7-6 with a home run on the first pitch to the first batter Brayden Freeman, the team's fifth home run of the day.
