Philip A. Pittman, 69, of Cloverdale passed away on June 22, 2010 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1941 in Jasonville and was the son of the late Martian Pittman and Naomi Stone Pittman Arthur.

He married Carolyn S. Denton on Sept. 5, 1959. He was a loving husband of 50 years, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He retired from General Motors/Chevrolet Truck and Bus after 43 years, where he was an electrician. He was a member of the Indianapolis Lodge No. 669 F.&A.M., Indianapolis Valley of The Scottish Rite, Murat Temple A.A.O.M.S. and the Murat Gatling Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Pittman of Cloverdale; two daughters, Sheila Wright and friend David McCarter of Brazil and Sheryl Reed of Cloverdale; one son/grandson, Curtis Deem of Cloverdale; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with the Rev. Ross Kirkman officiating. Burial will be in the Peavey Cemetery in Howesville.

Calling will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
