Putnam County Jail

Raymond Bailey, 41, Blaine, Wash., was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 3:43 a.m. Monday for the sale of marijuana.

Randall J. Brinker, 45, Indianapolis, was booked at 3:44 a.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and public intoxication.

Shawn R. Bussing, 22, Reelsville, was booked at 4:50 p.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Charles P. Cooper, 22, Greencastle, was booked at 1:58 a.m. Sunday for intimidation.

Robert L. Davis, 41, Roachdale, was booked at 5:11 a.m. Saturday for public intoxication, theft, trespassing, residential entry and resisting law enforcement.

James A. Means, 58, Greencastle, was booked at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for violation of probation.

Brian D. Minnick, 36, Terre Haute, was booked at 7:13 a.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Ralph Nichols Jr., 56, Greencastle, was booked at 11 p.m. Friday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with priors and never receiving a driver's license.

Norman Winn, 36, no city listed, was booked at 2 a.m. Sunday on a warrant out of Marion County.

Michael L. O'Conner, 31, Greencastle, was booked at 8:30 p.m. Sunday for trespassing, resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and violation of probation.

Laconda L. Rose, 35, Greencastle, was booked at 10:40 p.m. Sunday on a local warrant for theft.

Deanna L. Smiley, 54, Greencastle, was booked at 11:52 p.m. Friday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with prior and public intoxication.

Joshua Tiano, 31, Everson, Wash., was booked at 3:45 a.m. Monday for the sale of marijuana.

Dwayne Winn, 36, Indianapolis, was booked at 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a warrant out of Marion County.

Putnam County Sheriff's Department

Dale K. Williams of Greencastle was traveling on US 231S at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, when he fell asleep at the wheel. His vehicle left the roadway and struck a mailbox before "grazing offing a telephone pole" and traveling between two trees.

Williams' vehicle then struck another telephone pole and a parked car owned by Robert Jones, which was in the front yard for sale. The vehicle continued to travel through more trees, hit a water meter and strike three more mailboxes before coming to rest.

The report stated, Williams exited the vehicle and walked home, which was located approximately half-mile from the scene, following the crash. He was given a portable Breathalyzer, which tested negative for alcohol.

Seniour's Wrecker Service towed his vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages.

Christopher E. Watson of Greencastle was turning on CR 625W from CR 875S near Reelsville at 3:01 p.m. Sunday, when a vehicle driven by Shawn R. Bussing of Reelsville ran a stop sign and struck his vehicle.

Discount Tire towed Watson's vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Thomas R. Spangler of Jasper backed into a parked motorcycle registered to Larrie and Jonell Davis of Warsaw at 7:55 a.m. Saturday at 1 S. Main St., in Cloverdale. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Two vehicles driven by Jeffrey Hunter of Greencastle and Kayla J. Poole of Roachdale sideswiped on a narrow overpass just north of Albin Pond Road on CR 100E in Greencastle. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Charles Fugate of Poland attempted to cross US 231 eastbound on CR 500W at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, when his vehicle struck a vehicle operated by Jonathan Adler of Ladoga, which was traveling north on 231.

There was an estimated $7,501 to $10,000 in damages.

Mildred P. Smith of Bainbridge was traveling north on CR 490W near Morton at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree due to a "white Buick" traveling south in the middle of the road, the accident report stated.

There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Eric Richardson of Spencer backed his vehicle into a parked vehicle, owned by Paul S. Johnson of Freedom, at 615 Pumpkin Place Road, Cloverdale.

Greencastle Police Department

Sarah E. Kemerly, 32, Russellville was traveling south on Jackson Street at 4:48 p.m. July 1, when she reached down to pick up a bottle dropped by her child and struck the back of a vehicle operated Brian K. Hanlon of Greencastle.

Ron's Towing towed Kemerly's vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Greencastle Fire Department

The Greencastle Fire Department reported no Fourth of July fireworks mishaps this year. It seems the community celebrated with a safe holiday.

Crews were dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. at 11:49 a.m. Friday for an alarm. It was reset and they were back in service at 12:14 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 503 S. Jackson St. at 11:56 a.m. Friday for an alarm. It was reset and they were back in service at 12:07 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to the entrance of Buzzi on Veteran's Memorial Highway at 5:30 p.m. Friday for a hay baler on fire. Upon their arrival, the fire had been extinguished. They helped with "hot spots" and were back in service at 5:43 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to CR 200W one mile south of CR 125S at 5:43 p.m. for trash that was set on fire along the side of the road. They extinguished the fire and were back in service at 5:58 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to the Putnam and Clay county line to assist Operation Life with a motor vehicle accident at 9:17 p.m. Saturday. They were disregarded before leaving the station and back in service at 9:18 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to The Waters of Greencastle, 1601 Hospital Drive, at 1:25 p.m. Sunday for an alarm. It was reset and they were back in service at 1:52 pm.

Crews were dispatched to 4 East St. at 1:59 p.m. Sunday for a medical assist with Operation Life. They were back in service at 2:19 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 1792 E CR 350S at 9:18 p.m. Sunday for an overheated ceiling fan. They were back in service at 9:41 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to 805 Crescent St. at 10:56 p.m. Sunday for a medical assist. They were back in service at 11:10 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to Asbury Towers, 102 W. Poplar St., at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday for an alarm. Nothing was found and they were back in service at 3:56 p.m.
